Anti-Social Behaviour Warning Letters Issued |
||
|
Following on from complaints received from members of the public in relation to youths entering a derelict building and behaving in an anti-social manner around Dagnall Gardens in Bakewell, we have identified the 7 youths involved.
Primarily we were most concerned about the safety of the youths so we contacted parents to request their support in speaking to their children about the dangers of entering derelict buildings. However, we have also taken into consideration the anti-social aspect - swearing, throwing rocks around, ‘knock a door run’. Some may say this is just kids being kids but when elderly, vulnerable people are the recipient of such behaviours it can be very frightening for them and I for one am glad they reported it as it has given me the opportunity to engage with the young people concerned and explain why their behaviour isn't acceptable.
I am pleased to say they have all taken on board why what they consider to be fun is not fun for the people who have felt the need to contact us and wouldn't like their elderly relatives to be treated that way.
Each of the young people have received their first anti-social behaviour warning letter and we are working together with parents to keep them on the right track.
We encourage members of the public to report any issues to us in order that we can deal with it accordingly.
